Ferrets are members of the Mustelidae family. As such, they are most closely related to animals like mink, otter, skunks and badgers. Captive ferrets are also related to the endangered black-footed ferret, which makes its home on the prairies of North America.

When reading time comes, Bailey lays out five books and lets his friend Riggs choose the story of the day. Whatever tale Riggs, a black Lab, sniffs first is the winner. Bailey and the other kids settle onto the blankets, each with a dog, and read away to their furry listeners.
If Alex stops reading, Casey, a yellow Lab, picks his head up as if to say, “Huh?” Alex reassures him he won’t stop reading, and Casey wags his tail.
